Are you a parent of a struggling ballplayer? Well, there are no secrets here! I encourage interested parents to sidle up and listen to everything I'm trying to convey to their son or daughter. My direction is simple and logical and I have a knack of reaching young ballplayers quickly. Parents really enjoy being included and understand the value of being informed. If the goal is to quickly make adjustments for ballplayers to enjoy the game again, I think it's important that parents be better equipped to police their young athletes as they train at home and at their practices or games.
I specialize in getting the most out of yourself or your young ballplayer. Whether hitting, throwing, or fielding. Usually, only tweaks are needed to the mechanics and/or timing of body parts that are needed for safely achieving more power, greater velocity, and eventually more frequent successes. For these reasons, I am comfortable downplaying the extreme chasms ballplayers may feel they need to overcome to make progress. Often, they're not far at all from making quick changes, regaining confidence, and enjoying the success of all of their hard work! In fact, Here's a common complaint I hear... A young ballplayer that may have "rocked it" the year before, is now struggling in the current season. Why is this? Well, simply... kids grow and every year they have a new body to get used to and control all over again. Have you ever heard a coach or instructor explain this fact? This seems obvious but it's rarely addressed or explained to parents and especially, never conveyed to struggling ballplayers. This is an example of what I mean when I'm "downplaying" the frustrations of growing ballplayers. They only need to put in some work and tweak their timing a bit to get back on track. That's where I come in!
Are you an adult athlete competing in any of the Chicagoland area's men and women softball and/or baseball leagues? If you're open to tweaking long-held habits, you might make leaps in progress without a complete overhaul. Who knows... maybe you'll be able to play the sport you love for a longer period because your technique falls better into the "safe" zone!
Are you a volunteer coach with eager assistants and you only want to learn more to get the most out of your practice time and your players no matter their skill level? I can help here, too? There's only so much time for a practice and if you're like me, you want to get the most out of it with fun, active, practices full of energy. I offer ideas for drills and techniques as well as advice to help set a more urgent and challenging tone to your practices. We all want the ballplayers to really enjoy the practices, right?
